DSS boss calls for peaceful LG polls, cautions on Amotekun

Ondo State boss of the Department of State Services, Mr. Emmanuel Esomonu, Owa of Idanre kingdom.
The Ondo State boss of the Department of State Services, Mr. Emmanuel Esomonu had recently in Odode Idanre, Ondo State called for peaceful local government election in Ondo State.
He made this plea during his what he described as part of basic intelligence familiarization visit to Idanre where he addressed different interest groups and stakeholders in the security of the society.
He lamented that the recent local government primaries were not violent free in some areas in the state and therefore enjoined parents not to allow their children to be used as political thugs by politicians who will use them and dump them.
According to him, if politicians don't have thugs, they will behave well and thus the nation will have peaceful elections.
Mr. Esomonu opined that Amotekun, if well handled will help to bridge the gap in intelligence gathering and thus facilitate the works of security agencies but cautioned against its being used as weapon to be used for settling personal scores or witch hunt political opponents.
He appealed for better rapport between herders and farmers and revealed that night grazing and rearing by under aged children had been banned.
While responding, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr)Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, Arubiefin IV, (JP) OFR. Owa of Idanre and paramount ruler of Idanre kingdom thanked him for the visit and assured Mr. Esomonu of continual support of the Department as the palace will always be partner in progress with the body in ensuring security in the community.
Mr. Onitiri Omonayin Akewi called on the DSS to encourage the Amotekun security outfit as it meant well for the protection and safety of lives and properties of people of the South West.
Among the groups present were representatives of Christians, Muslims, Teachers, Drivers, Hunters, OPC, NSCDC, Hausas /Fulanis, Market women and traditional chiefs of Idanre kingdom.
